In 1981, Ibraimo Alberto came to the GDR from Mozambique as a contract worker. After a career as a boxer he dedicated himself to projects for migrants and refugees between the German cities of Schwedt and Berlin. In his book "I wanted to live like the gods" he tells a life story of racism and discrimination.

Mirjam Blumenthal, politician and activist, has been active in the Neukölln district for many years. She is the volunteer director of the Anton-Schmaus-Haus, the home of the Falcons, a left wing youthclub. She tells us about the many attacks by Nazis on the youthclub and its staff.

Nader Khalil was born in a refugee camp in Lebanon and came to Germany with his family as a child. He has dedicated his life to making life easier for immigrants in Germany. Today he runs the German-Arab Center in Neukölln.

When he opened his bookstore Leporello in Rudow, Heinz Ostermann never imagined that he would one day become a target of neo-Nazi hatred.

Ferat Kocak is a politician and activist against racism, fascism and right-wing terrorism. His life was massively threatened when Nazis set his car on fire in 2018.

Christiane Schott fights together with other residents of the Hufeisensiedlung in Britz against the Nazi mob in the area. With the BASTA initiative they demand justice for the numerous right-wing attacks in Neukölln.

Tilmann Kötterheinrich-Wedekind is the dean of the Ernst Abbe Gymnasium, one of the oldest in Neukölln – and also the most colorful. His students come from over 20 language areas. But not everyone likes that.
